Helena Bonadeen Walker

Helena Bonadeen Walker was born November 27, 1935 in Sheridan, Missouri to Lloyd Earl and Lillie (Hudson) Winemiller. She passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Highland Park Care Center after a battle with cancer.

She was survived by her children, Jess (Nancy) Walker of Gering, Peggy (Butch) Black of Lakeside, Kerry (Denise) Walker of Bayard, Alan (Karen) Walker of Minatare, and Brian (Judy) Walker of Hemingford. She is also survived her brother, Ben (Gayle) Winemiller of Iliff, Colorado; 16 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Walker, infant son Jackie Earl, and her stepbrother, Vernon Wilcox.
They moved the family to Nebraska, and raised the kids on a ranch. She spent many years being a, mother, ranch cook, ranch hand, and anything else the situation called for.
Leaving the ranch, Jack and Helena started their own Trucking business, Walker Trucking. During the 30 years in business, she held the position of dispatcher and later accompanied her husband and acquired her CDL so she could drive.
Called back to the ranching life, they worked for Black Ranches, Inc. where she earned the reputation of “the best cook in the country.” You never left her house hungry. She enjoyed camping, riding her 4 wheeler, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
