Otto John Shigley was born February 6, 1879 to George Washington and Susan I (Grass) Shigley in Indianapolis, IN.

He married Edith Thayer Donahue December 14, 1921, in Alliance, Nebraska
When he was four years old, he moved with his parents to eastern Nebraska where he spent his early years. He moved to the Lakeside area about 1900.
He died October 25, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska.
He was survived by his wife and father G. W. Shigley; two sisters and a brother.
