The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:05 A.M. on April 21, 2026. Commissioners Krotz, Messersmith and Kling were present along with Deputy Clerk Paige Rager, Interim Road Superintendent Rod Norton and Monica Colbath. Krotz stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act. This meeting was posted on the official website and published in the Sheridan County Journal Star on April 15, 2026. Kling made a motion to accept the agenda. Messersmith seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Messersmith made a motion to approve the minutes of 4-14-2026 with corrections. Kling seconded the motion. With a roll call all voted aye. The complete Pledged Security Report was presented to the board. Interim Road Superintendent Rod Norton was present to give an update on the road department and on-going projects. Norton updated the board on a section line closure petition that is circulating. Building and Grounds Superintendent Jeff Davis was not present. Sheriff Jeff Brewer was present but did not have any updates for the board. Weed Superintendent Melissa Grover was present to ask the board to authorize the shared use of a 2003 Ford pickup; VIN# 1FTNF20L73EB59499 that is used sparingly by her department, with Building and Grounds. Kling made a motion to approve the shared use of the 2003 Ford pickup with Building and Grounds. Messersmith seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Extension Livestock Systems Educator Brock Ortner was present to give the board an update on recent and upcoming activities. USDA Representative Ryan Powers presented the board with a proposed amendment to the current work/financial plan for wildlife management services. The board reviewed the amendment but tabled the proposal to the May 5th Commissioner meeting; no decision was made. Public Comment: Karla Larson appeared to address workplace conditions. The board informed Larson that the matter was solely the responsibility of the Elected Official. Adjourn: 11:45 A.M.
