Commissioners Proceedings Statement - Tuesday, January 27, 2026
The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners (BOC) met on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the County Courthouse. Notice of the meeting was published in the Sheridan County Journal Star and on the County website sheridancounty.ne.gov. The meeting was open to the public and conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. Present were Chairman James Krotz, Commissioners Dan Kling and Bruce Messersmith, Clerk Sindy Coburn, Clerk of the District Court Carol Stouffer and Treasurer Renee Thies.

There was no business for the Board of Equalization (BOE).

The Board of Commissioners (BOC) voted to approve a Journal Entry proposed by the Treasurer to remove the disbursement for courtroom doors from the building fund and record the disbursement in the LATCF fund.
The Treasurer presented her report on pledged securities.

Interim Road Superintendent Rod Norton asked if he might seek bids for the hauling of red rock from South Dakota. The BOC approved.

Trish Loosvelt of the County Tourism Board reported that Tiffany Hillion of Gordon has joined the Board, but Bruce Salisbury will soon be moving away.

Sheriff Jeff Brewer reported on recent upgrades to radar units.

Eric Anderson, Commander of the American Legion, consulted with the BOC, Clerk, Treasurer and Assessor about setting a date for the County Government Day. The group agreed on April 7 as a tentative date.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the BOE/BOC will be Tuesday, February 10. The minutes of this and all meetings of the Board of Commissioners will be available to the public at the office of the Sheridan County Clerk and now are available online at sheridancounty.ne.gov.
