Commissioners Proceedings Statement - Monday, July 25, 2022
The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners (BOC) met on Monday, July 25 2022, at the County Courthouse. Notice of the meeting was published on the county website sheridancountyne.gov. The meeting was open to the public and a ZOOM connection was also available. Present were Chairman Bruce Messersmith, Commissioners Dan Kling and James Krotz, County Clerk Sindy Coburn, and Treasurer Renee Thies 

Road Superintendent Richard Cross reported that construction work is on hold so crews can address damage caused to county roads by heavy harvest traffic. 

Sheriff Jeff Brewer discussed with the Board the high cost of housing prisoners at the state hospital. 

The Commissioners, Assessor and Clerk convened at 11:00 a.m. as the Board of Equalization (BOE). 
The Assessor presented three requests late filing of the Homestead Exemption application for Wynn and Wenda Coon, Edwin Lorimor and Annabelle Evert. The BOC approved the applications. 
The Assessor presented a list of four over -valued and two undervalued properties. The BOC approved the corrections. 
The BOE reviewed the evidence submitted with Property Valuation Protests and rendered decisions on 17 cases. 

The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9. The minutes of this and all meetings of the Board of Commissioners will be available to the public at the office of the Sheridan County Clerk and now are available online at sheridancounty.ne.gov. All meetings of the Board of Commissioners are held in compliance with Nebraska Open Meetings Act and the public is always welcome.
