Commissioners Proceedings Statement - Monday, September 9, 2019
Present were Chairman Loren Paul, Commissioners Bruce Messersmith and James Krotz and Clerk Sindy Coburn. Consideration of the final draft of the Employee Handbook was tabled till September 16. Assessor Tina Skinner requested that a desk and paper shredder from her office be declared surplus. The Commissioners approved. Road Superintendent Tom Kuester informed the Board that he has ordered a new Caterpillar V snowplow. Mike Suhy and Jesse Craiglow appeared to request permission to post a display of family resource materials sponsored by the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Courthouse lobby. The request was denied. Jeremy Harris of MANNA systems reported by phone on the continuing assessment of the county computer system and plans for the proposed upgrade. Val Jansante, field representative for Congressman Adrian Smith, appeared to introduce himself to the Commissioners and to ask about issues of special concern to the County. Sheriff Brewer briefed the Commissioners on recent activities and concerns in his department. Deputy County Attorney Jamian Simmons met with the Commissioners to discuss the possible revision of the process for selecting a Public Defender in 2022. The next scheduled meeting of the Board of Commissioners is September 16. Notice of upcoming meetings will be posted on the county website sheridancounty.ne.gov.
