Well the first 3 months of the year sure flew by, but that only means warmer weather to come. Now that the weather is getting nicer, we will be doing more activities outside!!! YEA! We will be starting our monthly picnics in the courtyard, plant ing flowers, and just sitting out on the front porch enjoying the warm weather.
The last few months have been exciting around here. We have had several birthday parties, Valentines party, preschool children here, Chase County Stompers, and an Easter Egg Hunt. As for you that don’t know...we have individual birthday parties now. On their birthday we have a party for them with cake and ice cream. The activities dept. provides this.
We ask them what they want, and that’s what they get.

We have had anything from different kinds of cake to apple pie. We have had a wonderful response to this. The residents LOVE IT!
If any of you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know. I am open for ideas. If you know of something in particular that your loved one wants to do, please let me know also. We have tried to cut back on the number of “scheduled” activities and do more “individual” activities. I believe they enjoy this more, because we are one-on-one with them more. We do our best to make everyone happy.
Susan and I are looking forward to seeing all of you now that the weather is getting warmer. Stop by anytime and visit.

Sue Irey, DON - Nursing
The nursing department would like to welcome Lee Jensen who joined our staff the first of March. He will primarily be working the evening shift. As you visit the facility you sill notice that some changes have been made to both the front and back nurses stations. The desks have been cut down to facilitate better interaction between the staff and the elders. The desks have been painted to match the décor of the areas where they are located. This has all been done in order to portray a more home-like environment as we work toward our Eden goals.
Cheryl Giesselmann - Dietary
The dietary department would like to welcome a couple new staff members to our great crew. Lillian Wellman and Bobbie Jo Hartman have recently joined our staff and we are excited to have them. We are still doing the birthday parties and have had great success with them. The elders love sharing birthdays with staff and families. It is exciting to be able to share in their celebration and provide their favorite meal. We are looking to do more grilling and picnics outside this year as the weather warms up. If you have any fun summer recipes and would like to share them, please call or mail them to me.

Billie Hayes - Enviromental Services
Winter is finally leaving us and Spring is here! We are starting to look at yard work and some outside chores. We are not finished with our inside improvements and will still be painting and fixing things up. If you haven’t walked thru the Manor for a few months then you might take a few minutes to do so and see the changes. We still have lots of room left to paint, this may take another winter to complete.
Our housekeepers will be doing some spring cleaning as weather permits. Windows will be washed on the outside. We may be doing some closets as time permits.
When you come to visit you may want to check with laundry-we still have some clothing items that are not marked.
If we can be of any assistance to you, please let us know.
