The source of drinking water for Cattleman's Restaurant comes from 1 groundwater well. The area within 100 feet of the well is considered the Wellhead Protection Area. Sources of contamination within this area have a greater chance of impacting the water supply and are able to do so in a shorter time than potential contaminants farther away. Potential contaminant sources include above or below ground storage tanks, livestock facilities, abandoned or private wells, landfills, etc. Whether or not your drinking water source is vulnerable to contamination depends on the proximity of potential contaminants to the well, whether potential contaminant sources are properly managed to prevent them from entering the water supply, and the structure and maintenance of the well itself.

NEBRASKA HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES VULNERABILITY RATING

The Nebraska Health and Human Services System Department of Regulation and Licensure visits all Public Water Supply Systems (PWSSs) to conduct a sanitary survey. The sanitary survey includes a vulnerability assessment done within 1000 feet of community and non-transient, non-community wells and within 100 feet of transient wells. Each well is given a rating of vulnerable or not vulnerable to contamination. Community and non-transient, non-community PWSSs are visited once every three years and transient PWSSs are visited once every five years to update this information.

This ranking is based on several factors including:
  • The integrity of the well construction
  • The geologic environment
  • The locations of potential contaminant sources in the area

RATING

PWS ID: NE3120564     PWS Name: Cattlemans Restaurant
